Finding Meaning

When we lack meaning in our lives, we wander around aimlessly, struggling to identify our purpose and how to use our natural gifts to make a difference in the world.

Even under the harshest of circumstances, life has meaning. When you find yourself buckling under pressure, consider the fortitude that prisoners of war, homeless families, the poverty-stricken, victims of genocide, etc., display, despite their circumstances. Even in the worst conditions imaginable, it is evident their lives have meaning.

Finding meaning is not an easy process and will require you to push past your fears. We often look to others to help us find our purpose in life, but it’s impossible to live for the same predetermined purpose as someone else. No matter the challenges we face, there’s always a lesson to be learned and the possibility of brighter days to come.

Learn From Your Mistakes

Mistakes are effective teachers because their consequences have a way of making lessons painfully clear.

You can’t learn from a mistake that you don’t acknowledge making. To gain the lesson, you have to admit it, analyze it, and make adjustments so that it doesn’t happen again.

Mistakes of the past are a critical part of today’s actions and how well you use them to prepare for the future.

Reason, Season or Lifetime

Throughout our lives, we encounter people that play an instrumental role in our development.

Our reason people serve a specific purpose. Once they fulfill that purpose, they will depart.

Our season people complement you during a certain period of your life. After you grow out of this period, they no longer enrich you.

Our lifetime people are there for the long haul, and you ride it out until the end.

When we think of someone being there for a lifetime, our parents, siblings, and relatives quickly come to mind.

Our friends, acquaintances, and companions develop later in our journey.

At some point, all of these individuals will depart and leave us with nothing but memories.

We must strive to understand the role each person plays and the lessons to be gained from it.

Welcome

Welcome to the Journey of Life’s Lessons. We all have a journey before us. It is up to you to decide which path to take.

You can either follow the roadmap that reveals the safest routes and obstacles to avoid, travel without a map, and spend additional time taking detours or rely on your inner guide to propel you forward to new destinations. Whatever road you take, they are all on the way to getting you to your final destination.

As you embark on this journey, you will encounter many people. Some will travel with you for an extended period creating extra baggage. Some will need help alongside the road. Some will bring you to a complete halt
requiring major servicing, and some will help you get closer to your destination. We are to trust and be grateful for each set of circumstances we encounter along the way and seek to understand the journey. Remember to reflect on how far you have come versus how far you have to go and live out your purpose each day.

The goal of this blog is to evoke thought and raise questions. Please check back frequently for new entries.
